In 1971 the first chapter of Kappa Delta Phi, National Affiliated Sorority was formed at Husson College, in Bangor, Maine. The Sorority was founded on the ideals of philanthropy, education and sisterhood.
In 1996 the Kappa Alpha Gamma Chapter was founded at SUNY New Paltz, becoming the first chapter in the state of New York. The Sorority is known for having one of the highest cumulative GPA's on campus and has won the award for it for the past 3 years. In Spring 2010 the Chapter received the Jeannette Collette Award from the National Sorority, which is the philanthropic award.
